Rupert Carabin "Sirène et le Pieuvre" Bronze Inkwell
This French Art Nouveau bronze inkwell, entitled "Sirène et le Pieuvre," or "Mermaid and the Octopus," by François-Rupert Carabin, features a reclining mermaid presenting the mouth of an octopus, revealing its underside, and inkwell. A beautiful play on an ancient means of sourcing ink, this sculpture's tranquility and solidity gives it the aura of an ancient carving, settled on a posterior wooden base.
