David Webb "Twilight" Cuff Bracelet

Designed by David Webb in the early 1970s, this "Twilight" collection cuff bracelet is composed of 18K gold, diamonds, baroque pearls and enamel. It is designed as a double hinged cuff with three white baroque South sea pearls set above a pattern of crosshatched lines pavé-set diamond and black enamel. A late creation designed by Webb himself, this impactful bracelet was an original response to the strong geometry of cityscapes and nostalgia for the Art Deco.

Arriving in New York after World War II, Webb's long and successful career as a designer was part and parcel of his life as a cultured, outgoing New Yorker, observing and participating in the life of the city as it evolved over the decades. As a New Yorker, inspired both by its sophistication and its grittiness, Webb himself noted: "There is nothing delicate about life today; it is elegant and harsh at the same time."
